Keeping Elmswell Parish Council's Blackbourne Facility Warm! | Helping Village Halls

Air source (ASHP) and ground source (GSHP) heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular, not just in domestic homes but also in village halls, community centres, and other public buildings seeking a cleaner, more sustainable heating solution. But what happens when they go wrong?
Elmswell Parish Council led the way by installing a ground source heat pump (GSHP) at their Blackbourne facility 12 years ago. This GSHP provides underfloor heating to the sports hall and ancillary spaces, using a horizontal installation around the perimeter of the adjacent football pitch. The success of this project encouraged the recent addition of vertically piped GSHPs to their new Wesley facility. The push towards sustainable heating was driven by a few visionary committee members who saw the benefits and persevered despite initial resistance to non-standard systems.
The Challenge
As time passed, the original installer was no longer available to service the system, and a local refrigeration/heating company struggled with the complexity of a major breakdown and uncooperative manufacturer support.
The Solution
Feeling frustrated, Elmswell Parish Council sought out alternative companies and discovered us, Energie Solutions! Nigel, our Technical Director, visited the centre, accurately diagnosed the problem, and provided temporary solutions to keep the system running while parts were sourced. Despite delays due to manufacturer issues, Nigel’s expertise ensured the system was back in full operation. Since then, the system has run flawlessly.
Following their problem being resolved, Elmswell Paris Council signed up for one of our Service & Maintenance Plans, noting that, “Throughout the process, Energie Solutions kept us informed and provided the best possible service under the circumstances” and they will stick with Energie for future projects.
